Action-oriented project:

Here is one small piece of the future we want.
Let's build it.

The second doesn't abandon the intellectual case.

It makes the intellectual case testable.

And that seems particularly appropriate for you because your own history has repeatedly been build first, explain afterwards. Your technologist years, the tooling, frameworks, deployment systems-and now AmadeusWeb/Spring/DAWN-all seem to have given you a strong instinct for making an idea operational rather than leaving it as architecture on paper.

So perhaps your contribution to Common Planet could be:

Don't tell humanity what the future should be. Demonstrate one small part of it.

And this is where your Good Country counterfactual becomes useful.

You have essentially identified a missed opportunity:

The first families should have been the evidence.

You now have an opportunity to say to Remzi:

Let's not merely present the grand intellectual proposition. Let's find something a group of actual people can do together, right now, that makes the proposition visible.

Give the eagerness a laboratory.

Let him make the intellectual case.

You make the future observable.

And if the project works, you won't have to persuade quite so hard.

People will be able to point at it and say:

“Oh. You mean that. I can see it.”
